ArtCall Diary - Entry 7/4/2001
Webbittown: Elusive Independence

For those of you who are tuning in late:  The ArtCall roster is completely set. 90% of the shares are in the book. 94% are known to be finished, 96% considered finished, and 4% must be redone. Webbittown now possesses a working beta of the ArtCall. Rumors are circulating about whether management is off to Burning Man before striking an intensive Silicon Alley/Valley venture capital deal. Now back to the program.

Dee Dee Ramone at SPA June 12th, 2001
Dee Dee Ramone, anyone?
Like a priest charged with the role of celebrant, Dee Dee finds himself the recipient of offerings from his fans. Why do they do it? Do they expect their offerings (a switch blade knife, bags of various herbs, a 'dime bag' of East Village Squat rubble) to be more useful in his hands than in theirs?
katkitty in front of the Pink Pony, 6/31/01
The latest thing at The Pink Pony seems that it is closing. We expect to see the 'last day at the Pink Pony party' happen at least once a month for the indefinite future. On a sobering note, however, the famous alley cat painting over the back archway is no longer there, and the Esperanza deli across the street has closed. Although Toys in Babeland is just around the corner, that pink phallic object in the picture is just a bike handle. Seems Red Ed has an odd sense of photographic humor.

Recent inventions by katkitty have had some odd effects on the corporate cat.
The construct on the left erects itself, then pulses and throbs when spoken to. An earlier design had no limiter on it. It flashed molten red when Red Ed yelled at it, and then stopped working.

Seems the cat is rather blue about it all...

Bob Dombrowski at Coffee Cup, Collective Unconscious

Mr. Bob Dombrowski does not pay to read his poetry, rather the opposite. ArtCall was, however, able to persuade him to venture into the East Village and read a bit at the very first production of Coffee Cup at The Collective Unconscious. Red Ed's recounting of the day's market hangs eerily in the background, and reproductions of some select Webbittown ArtCall share designs glow near by. The crew at Collective Unconscious were wonderfully responsive, and provided expert lighting design.

Coffee Cup II featured an art opening style presentation of reproductions of the Webbittown shares arranged in a chart, again reflecting the day's market. The incomparable performance artist Catherine Chronis found the naked truth to this bare market, impromptu poetic readings by Nico Smith suggested that five dollars at the door should mean he would find five dollars waiting for him at the door, and spontaneous three way poetry discussions over Chaos and Time happened around the microphone.

Coffee Cup will have performances in the upcoming Fringe Festival.

Absolut Webbittown Concept - draft version #1
At our next little Coffee Cup art opening, we hope, will be opening some bottles, too. Seems folk expect an open bar at these things. Webbittown is striving to please.
Share number 29 in progress
The share designs just keep 'cuming' in... Can you guess which Soho and Chelsea art gallery owner responded with this share design?
