Approaching Critical Mass

"It's a cruel... cruel summer... now you're gone,"... lamented Bananarama on the radio. Amtrak car 430, rolled in and out of Topeka, Kansas, at 7am Tuesday. Paul Kostabi was fast asleep, as super collector KDDDDS was left (empty) handed. ArtCall had been assured that Mister Kostabi would be alive and alert at that time We fell asleep confident that the the two would meet on Monday night. ArtCall artists John Penley, Robert Arihood, Clayton Patterson and Colin Moynihan had themselves involved in a doozy of a situation. The story as has been gathered so far, reads as follows:

205 Club on Christie is visited by the State Liquor Authority for noise violations and such.
Clayton Patterson and Elsa Rensaa are on hand to witness and photograph the event.
The club owner assaults Clayton, who becomes the recipient of an injury to his head requiring stitches.
Clayton files assault charges against the club owner and the club owner goes to Central Booking.
Somewhere along the line, the names of John Penley and Village Voice photographer get into the rumor mill.
Meg Handler, the picture editor at the Voice, calls John Penley (they do know each other) and gripes.
John (who is not Clayton's long lost twin brother) tries to unravel the situation, he was not in the East Village or New York at the time of the incident.
Penley calls up Colin Moynihan, of the New York Times city section.
Colin Moynihan, his curiosity aroused, calls Meg Handler to get her side of the brouhaha for the Times.

Ray of Ray's News reminding all that he loves NY - June 20th 2000 The story becomes a bit blurred here as blame and innuendo are bandied about everywhere. "I'd rather tell people I shoot for Hustler, than tell them I shoot for the Voice!" said an angry Penley to a consoling Robert Arihood outside Ray's News. Inside of Ray's, the metro edition of the New York Post hit the stands and Ray just wanted everyone to know he loved New York, wanted to keep his lease, and was enjoying the marvelous weather. Ray serves hot dogs 'that can not be beat' with a huge assortment of garnishes to suit your taste. Even Mamushka, from farther up Avenue A, makes the trek to Ray's for her daily dog.

Katkitty reports that Wireless Webbittown can now be subscribed to via the WWW. It will take your phone number and give you an alert about an hour before an event that appears in the jottings section. While this is not a first, we are certainly one of the first to unveil this bleeding edge technology. So far none of the major players in the Wireless Web have anything like this for New York.
